The Bookkeeper will be responsible for providing accurate, efficient, and timely bookkeeping services to a portfolio of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in the UK.

 

Our client deliver outstanding Accounting , HR and IT solutiions for businesses looking to steamline their operations and maximise efficieny.  Headquartered in UK and operating in Mauritius for more than a decade, they are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper.

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for providing accurate, efficient, and timely bookkeeping services to a portfolio of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based in the UK. The role involves maintaining financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and client-specific requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple UK clients.
  • Process and record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and supplier statements on a regular basis.
  • Prepare VAT returns and submit them in line with UK regulations.
  • Assist with payroll processing and associated record-keeping, if required by clients.
  • Ensure all financial data is accurate and properly maintained within accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage).
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial reports.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain necessary documents and clarify queries related to transactions.
  • Collaborate with senior accountants to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist with ad-hoc accounting and administrative tasks as required.

 

 Abilities& Experience:

  • Higher School Certificate with Accounting, or Diploma in Accounting, or ACCA Level 1.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working in an offshore accounting environment is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or similar platforms and Microsoft 365 product.
  • Strong understanding of UK bookkeeping standards, VAT, and payroll processes will be an advantage.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly when interacting with UK clients.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn.

Working hours: Monday to Friday – 09h00 to 16h30
