Assistant Storekeeper

ROLE PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to assist with various tasks in the storage area, including operating a forklift for moving products. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Forklift Operation and Material Handling:

• Safely operate a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise.
• Load and unload materials from trucks, racks, and other storage areas.
• Properly handle and store materials to prevent damage.

Warehouse Maintenance:

• Assist in maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse.
• Perform daily checks on warehouse equipment, including the forklift, and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.

Inventory Management:

• Assist in inventory counts and ensure accuracy in stock levels.
• Label and store incoming merchandise in appropriate locations within the warehouse.

Production Lab Assistance:

• Serve as a backup in the production lab when needed, assisting with basic tasks and adhering to all safety and quality protocols.
• Learn and understand the basic operations of the production lab to provide effective assistance.

Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to strict safety standards, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to operational guidelines.
• Participate in safety training and stay updated on best practices for warehouse and forklift operation.

General Assistance:

• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient warehouse operations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Storekeeper or Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

• HSC
• Valid forklift operator license

EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience in warehouse work and forklift operation.

TECHNICAL & BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES

• Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
• Good physical condition and strength, capable of lifting heavy objects.
• Flexibility to perform different roles as required, including production lab assistance.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
