Our client in the agricultural sector is seeking to recruit an Accountant.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accounting processes and tasks including AP & AR processes, general ledger and account reconciliation.
  • Manage and oversee the entire accounting team.
  • Supervision the day-to-day operation of the accounting.
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date records of all financial transactions.
  • Review, prepare and post journal entries on the system and general ledger.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and schedules.
  • Supervise the account payables and receivable activities.
  • Ensure timely bank payments or cheque payments.
  • Reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Supervising and controlling receiving of cash, cheques, and deposits funds.
  • Validation and verification of payments for accuracy and accountability.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • In charge of the computation of VAT, TDS and other statutory returns for submission to the MRA.
  • Processing tax payments and monthly PAYE/CSG/NSF/LEVY/TD returns.
  • Cooperation with external auditors to carry out annual external auditing, assist with year-end audit and tax queries.
  • Participate in Budget preparation process.
  • Assist the Finance and Admin Manager for the preparation of financial statement and ensure adherence to accounting standard.
  • Review and improve accounting and operating procedures with appropriate internal controls and measures.
  • Assist the Finance and Admin Manager in implementation and management of new ERP.
  • Other financial management duties assigned by the Finance and Admin Manager and the Managing Director.
  • Participate in special projects as deemed necessary.
Profile:

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or ACCA Level 2.
  • Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a similar role as Accountant.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, IFRS.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups, pivot tables and Power BI.
  • Experience with general ledger functions.
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (Microsoft Navision) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
