DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not be limited to, the following areas and activities. At management discretion, direction may be given for tasks outside the scope of work described. 

  • Must be familiar with procedures and standards of hotels. 
  • Must be familiar with the accounting procedures.
  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts complete with P&L’s, variance analysis and commentaries
  • Preparation and delivery of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Provide guidance and support for two accounts assistant making sure Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger functions run effectively
  • Responsible for the month-end closing processes ensuring all relevant month end journals including accruals and prepayments are accurately recorded
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting cycles for this hotel
  • Preparation of the cash flow monitoring and forecasting
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate financial controls, processes and procedures exist in respect of day-to-day financial functions
  • Should prepare/Assist in GL accounts reconciliations including bank reconciliations.
  • Should prepare all compliance documents
  • Should assist/guide Debtors collection and AR account reconciliations.
  • Support audits of financial statements
  • Ensure proper accounting procedures are in place
  • Check and verify monthly reports for management
  • Ensure accurate reports and records are in compliance with accounting standards
  • Conducts, in close collaboration with the stores, purchasing and general accounting sections.
  • Prepare/assist in monthly and other financial reports
  • Assist the Accounting and Consolidation Manager in the preparation of some management entities’ Financial Statements and schedules notably during the quarterly consolidation
  • Review of some templates of cash flow forecast under supervision of Accounting and Consolidation Manager to send to Constance Group Treasury 
  • Establish and maintain effective employee relations.
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum `A` Level qualification (preferably ACCA Level 1 or above)
  • Knowledge of excel, word and conversant with hotel accounting software
  • Have a good team spirit and ability to work under pressure
  • Solid communication skills, with proficiency in speaking and writing in both English and French
  • Strong people skills – a polite and professional demeanor when working with other companies, as well as agents, suppliers and co-workers
  • A minimum of two years' experience in accounting/finance is required
