The primary purpose of the Production Engineer will be to manage the production of raw material / semi-finished into finished product in an efficient way that meets company and customer expectations whilst maintaining compliance with industry and external quality regulations
As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategy
- Formal & informal meetings with senior Management to help execute strategic objectives for Saint-Gobain Indien Ltd
- Understand the business strategy, the customers and our products to communicate and deploy the vision in a meaningful way into the department.
- Contribute to the development of the organizational strategy to advance the company’s vision, mission and objectives as well as to promote revenue, profitability and growth.
- Ensure continuous improvement manufacturing methodology is embedded as used as the key process in identifying and prioritizing plant losses.
- Participate in Weekly Supply Planning Meeting and monthly MRO Control Meetings.
EHS
- Ensure that all factory operators/attendant are operating in the factory wearing their PPE at all times
- All incidents shall be reported immediately to Management
- Actively participate in Tool-box Meeting Productivity
- Control operational costs against budget and deliver cost reductions.
- Control operational performance to achieve timely production targets and associated plant objectives.
- Manage and enhance the performance of production teams and developing them through regular reviews.
- Ensure daily execution of production planning on all lines and report accordingly.
- Supervise M.T.O production and constant liaison with the Sales/Import department for availability.
- Close follow-up on efficiencies of the production lines and monitoring of established KPIs by the company.
Procurement
- Constant liaison with Plant Administration to secure the production requirements in suitable quantity, suitable quality and suitable timing.
- To ensure process flow of receipt, storage and usage of RM, Packaging and Bags is adhered to.
- To control the Store Supervisor for maintaining FIFO for RM, Packaging and Bags.
Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop your direct reports in order to increase their capability commitment, drive and performance output so that the organization reaches its objectives, executes its strategies and progresses towards its vision.
- Accomplish staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results, coaching, counselling and initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.
- Create an environment built on trust, open and transparent communication, innovation and pro-active behaviours to ensure the daily practice of the Saint-Gobain Principles of Conduct and Action and the Saint-Gobain Attitudes.
Corporate Governance
- Drive adherence and compliance to all legislative requirements, Principle of Conduct & Action, Corporate Governance and internal Control Reference Framework
- All such duties and / or activities assigned by Management / Board as and when required.
REQUIREMENTS
Ideally, you will possess the following:
- BSc. /BEng in Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical / Industrial
- Lean Methodology qualification will be an advantage
- Business Management qualification an advantage
Specific Work Experience, Knowledge and Skills required to fulfil the role
- At least 5 years manufacturing experience in a supervisory position
- Team leader skills – to lead and motivate a team
- Managing sub ordinates to achieve set targets
- Planning of all shift activities
- Good communication and numerical skills
- Report writing skills
- Able to analyse technical drawings
- Must be trilingual – Creole, French and English
- Advanced ERP Management system and PLC knowledge
- Advanced Excel – Power BI
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
- Knowledge of Administration and Management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
- Strict adherence to respect personal information and confidentiality.
- Action orientated, ability to use own initiative to progress work.
- Highly organized, analytical and inquisitive, with attention to detail.
- Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt style and approach to targeted audience.
