We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial operations for our retail business. The ideal candidate will provide critical financial insights to support business growth.
A description of the main scope of services, is detailed below:
1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Monitor financial transactions and ensure accurate posting to accounts.
2. Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Track and manage inventory, ensuring proper valuation and stock accuracy.
- Collaborate with the warehouse and procurement teams to reconcile physical stock with accounting records.
3. Accounts Payable
- Review AP sub-ledger and ensure accuracy of posting.
- Review supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Process supplier payments withing credit terms and manage payment schedules.
- Liaise with other departments for any invoicing issues.
4. Accounts Receivable
- Reconcile accounts, manage aging reports, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
5. Fixed Assets
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of fixed assets.
- Ensure proper tagging and documentation for all capitalised assets.
6. Treasury & Cash Flow Planning
- Support daily cash management and reconciliation
- Assist in short-term and long-term cash flow forecasting.
7. Data Analysis
- Provide financial data analysis to support decision-making.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports and KPIs.
- Generate ad-hoc reports as requested by management.
8. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget adherence and report variances with recommendations for cost control.
9. Taxation & Compliance
- Prepare and file VAT and other statutory tax returns in accordance with local regulations.
- Ensure financial operations comply with accounting standards and tax laws.
10. Audit & Documentation
- Liaise with internal and external auditors during audits.
- Ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and internal control procedures.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or ACCA Level 2 minimum with Level 3 ongoing.
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of professional experience.
- Solid experience in monthly closing and preparation of management accounts.
- Proficiency in ERP systems.
- Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills. Ability to interpret financial data.
- Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently.
