The Finance Lead shall be responsible for assisting the Chief Finance Officer in supporting the functioning of the financial activities of the bank.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts of subsidiaries under IFRS;
  • Review of subsidiaries’ monthly management accounts and follow up to resolve issues;
  • Prepare consolidated management accounts, Financial Statements and Interim reports under IFRS;
  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, other reports and insights to summarise and interpret current and projected financial position and performance;
  • Ensure monthly Value at Risk (VaR) assessments are performed on all balance sheet accounts in the bank and recommend appropriate provisioning requirements;
  • Contribute to the budget, revised estimate, forecast and actuals by collecting all the relevant information from the relevant parties and ensuring validity, accuracy and completeness of financial information in the general ledger;
  • Involvement in getting relevant approvals for payment of dividends to the respective shareholders of the Bank;
  • Preparation of presentation for Committees, Board and AGM;
  • Ensure robust controls in place through the Bank’s policies and frameworks (including accounts payables, accounts receivables and other areas);
  • Review of all submission to Regulatory bodies such as the MRA and Bank of Mauritius;
  • Oversee the good running of accounts payables and accounts receivables, with emphasis on controls in place at all levels;
  • Prepare and process all accounting journals and verify that supporting documentation to journals is available;
  • Analyse and approve expenditure within mandate and in line with supporting documentation. Identify deviations from policy and escalate to CFO;
  • Perform a reasonability test on statutory payments due and verifying records against transactional information by performing calculations using specific formulae and procedures
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including internal, external auditors, banks and government agencies;
  • Create Finance Partnerships;
  • Partner and comply with relevant risk and compliance regulatory frameworks for all finance activities;
  • Any other cognate duties.
  • Prepare budget and revised estimate, forecast and actual processes;
  • Ensure reputation and business risk is managed;
  • Ensure that mandatory compliance training in finance is driven effectively;

 

Technical and Soft Competencies/Skills, Knowledge

  • Strong Planning, Negotiation and Communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models
  • Fully aware of IAS/IFRS standards
  • Proficient in Oracle financial system would be an advantage
  • Outstanding Leadership skills

Experience & Qualifications

  • A post graduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics/Law or any related field or a professional qualification
  •  ACCA fully qualified or equivalent;
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Accounting, and Finance with minimum 3 years in Banking sector including some experience in an environment where knowledge of procurement system and/or framework
