This position entails secretarial and administrative work in connection with trade mark matters for clients based in Mauritius and globally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Conduct trade mark, industrial design and patent searches at the Trade Mark Office
• Filing applications for trade marks, industrial designs, and patents, as well as renewals and recordals, etc., at the Trade Mark Office
• Ability to effectively draft correspondence and official forms
• Diary and email management
• Handling of all scanning and copying of documents
• Maintaining an effective administration and filing system, including on the Patricia database
• Attending to tariff rate capturing for professionals in the team
• Assisting with billing procedures, accounts management, itemised billing, adjustments and final accounts, and assist in following up with clients regarding overdue account payments
• Establishing cohesive working relationships with professionals, support staff and internal/external clients
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Trade mark secretarial experience will be advantageous
• Experience in the registration of trade marks with Mauritius Customs will be advantageous
• Experience in the Patricia software package (or a similar software package) will be advantageous
• Competent in computer packages including, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Excel
• Experience in the software package 3E will be highly advantageous
• Ability to use initiative and be proactive in offering assistance and following up to ensure an efficiently run practice
• Strong attention to detail and excellent typing skills
• Possess well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (including good telephone etiquette)
• Strong written and speaking communication skills in English

• Sound PA skills and strong administration and organisational abilities

This is a demanding but stimulating position which will require working outside of normal office hours, when necessary.
