This is a full-time role for a Mechanical Project Engineer and Electrical Project Engineer located in Coromandel. The Mechanical Project Engineer and Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for overall project management.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in similar post.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office & MS Project.
  • Highly motivated, proactive team-player with a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) or other similar software programs.
  • Flexible to work odd hours when required.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare Technical specifications of materials and equipment as per project requirements.
  • Prepare BOQ and develop estimated budgets based on estimated Engineering drawings, labour, material, and construction costs.
  • Lead and coordinate installation activities on site.
  • Direct, monitor and control the activities of MEP team. Supervise, lead  and instruct team as well as subordinates.
  • Perform inspection and quality control / Audit on installation work.
  • Prepare design brief & support documentation for projects.
  • Carry out visual and preliminary inspections on complete installations/equipment to ensure conformance to relevant standards, design and safety requirements and specifications.
  • Carry out testing and commissioning activities to ensure compliance of installation or equipment with design and performance requirements, specifications, and standards.
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project.
  • Able to work on Bill of Quantity and quote tenders.
  • Inspect construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
  • Educate site workers (internal and external) on construction safety regulations and accident protocol.
  • Control external stakeholders so that they respect and follow our framework.
  • Enforce site safety rules to minimize work-related accidents and injuries.
  • Take disciplinary action in case of high exposure to risks and non-compliance with OSHA rules and environmental requirements.
  • Inform Management about daily planning of subordinates.
  • Evaluate the performance of employees and instituting disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Participate in inspections and quality controls.
  • Recommend changes to operations or procedures to increase efficiency.
  • Take ownership of project from Tendering dept upon handing over meeting.
  • Liaise with project team representatives, such as consultant, engineer, main contractor, architect, interior decorator, M&E coordinator to discuss and convene project matters.
  • Validate design issues related to MEP and suggest alternative solutions.
  • Ensure that design intent is carried out on site by marking up shop drawings and taking responsibility of execution
  • Liaise with and provide latest information to drawing office for the production of shop and as-made drawings
  • Ensure proper material sourcing is carried out to secure the most competitive prices prior to submission of Material Approval Request (MAR).
  • Materials requirements planning & follow up.
  • Ensure that works are being executed as per approved design and programme.
  • Update progress for claims for submission by Quantity surveyor.
  • Prepare and update progress report, to be submitted on a weekly or fortnightly basis, as requested by HOD.
  • Progress and technical reporting to HOD.
  • Prepare Programme of Works and ensure proper follow up for timely realisation of projects.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining Quality and Health, Safety & Environment procedures
  • Follow cost of project, record, and price all variations. Assist in the scope review, budgeting, and justification of MEP change work order.  Ensure material and labour used on site are within the budgeted tendered price.
  • Ensure proper progress of project through supervision.
  • Facilitate problem solving, as may arise, between contractors during construction.
  • Ensure Coordination between other services.
  • Prepare O&M Manuals and other related handing over documents
  • Encourage and participate in teamwork.
  • Work in collaboration with the tendering team for the preparation of tenders and quotations
  • Carry out any other cognate duties as may be assigned by management.
