Merits has an opportunity for a Mechanical Estimator to join our Estimating Department. The ideal candidate will be a diligent individual that will assist the estimating team in preparing mechanical estimates for projects based in Ireland and United Kingdom.
MAIN DUTIES
- Review project plans and coordinate with team members to confirm the complete scope of work
- Assist Mechanical Estimators to ensure estimates are prepared to a high standard
- Learning the concepts and procedures of estimating
- Maintains project documents such as drawings and specifications in an organised and reasonable manner. Maintains project files on file server in accordance with company standards.
- Examines blueprints and other documents and prepares detailed cost estimates. Performs accurate quantity take offs of available design documents.
- Use Bluebeam software for on screen quantity take-offs
- Review all notes, symbols, and abbreviations on all mechanical drawings.
- Inputting data into spreadsheet templates
OTHER SKILLS
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or any Engineering related field
- 0-1 year experience in Mechanical Engineering Environment, will be an advantage. Training will be provided.
- Familiarity with blueprints, ability to read and interpret drawings will be an advantage
- Must be proficient in MS Office suite
- Knowledge of Bluebeam estimating software will be an advantage
- Must possess excellent communication skills, numerical skills, an analytical mindset, and strong organisation skills.
- Problem solving skills with attention to detail and with multitasking abilities
- Ability to consistently set goals, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers
- Ability to work as a team player
- A strong work ethic and a ‘can-do,’ solution-oriented attitude.
- Overtime may be required to ensure client projects are delivered on time
