 Responsibilities:

The Head of Funds will:

  • Provide overall leadership for the Funds business in the Mauritius cluster whilst also managing, building and developing partnerships with new and existing clients and intermediaries;
  • Be a key member of the leadership team for the Mauritius cluster as a whole, working collaboratively with the Regional Managing Director, Head of Client Services, Commercial Director cum Head of Private Wealth, Head of Corporates, and Head of Risk and Compliance;
  • Have overall responsibility for achieving the organic revenue growth targets each year, managing costs, and managing the performance and productivity of our people; and
  • Work closely with the Regional Managing Director with respect to strategic initiatives in new markets of the Region, including the setting-up of organic operations in all or some of these new markets.

Tasks

  • Taking full ownership for all Funds activities in Mauritius, chairing the board meetings, representing the cluster at Group level and leading the relationship with the regulator as required.
  • Monitoring of financial performance against budget and agreed objectives, fully investigating and managing any variances.
  • Attendance and presentation at Country Management Committees, Country Risk and Compliance Committees, Monthly and Quarterly Business Review meetings and ad hoc meetings with the Group management Board as required.
  • Working with the CCO and other members of the senior management team to deliver pitches and proposals to existing and potential clients for new business.
  • Identifying business opportunities in target markets, working closely with the Commercial Director for Mauritius and the wider Group management team.
  • Actively participate in the Groups global marketing and BD efforts, developing a network of relationships with key senior leaders across the group and working with other senior team members within relevant Special Interest Groups.
  • Providing thought leadership (to promote the different aspects of the IQ-EQ Mauritius offering) through presentations and articles.
  • Providing technical knowledge and expertise to clients and the leadership team alike.
  • Acting as Global Client Relationship Manager or Executive Sponsor on key client relationships, ensuing first class service delivery, identifying new business opportunities, delivering an increased range of services and solutions, driving revenue growth.
  • Ensuring that resource capacity and demand in quantity and skills are matched and retained, both in real time and forward looking for recruitment purposes.
  • Managing the performance of the client service teams in such a way that productivity, billing/FTE, cost of delivery performs at the highest standard.
  • Exercising oversight of out-sourcing of work to other Group companies/jurisdictions in line with service and operating level agreements and regulatory requirements, whilst always seeking ways to improve our service.
  • Managing the overall business performance of the delivery teams, coaching and developing all employees in such a way that they remain within the business, based on continual development and training, with uplifting career prospects.
  • Creating and maintaining an environment of trust and collaboration within the workforce ensuring people have clear goals, receive clear behavioural feedback and are held accountable for their behaviour and contribution.
  • Deadlines and client milestones are always met and ensure oversight of invoicing, non-billable time, write-offs and rollbacks Managing relationships with the regulators, Law firms, Accounting and professional service firms as appropriate.
  • Taking ownership and providing the necessary drive for the Funds business, including assigned projects in order to grow revenue e.g. competitor attacks, focus on top clients, cross selling of services and solutions.
  • Ensuring that the operational policies and procedures are being implemented efficiently and effectively and are subject to regular review.

Qualifications 

Required Experience

Education

  • Relevant professional qualification and/or Degree.

Background experience

  • Substantial professional experience in a Financial Services Environment, out of which at least 5 years in the management field. An entrepreneurial approach to business with first class strategic and business acumen.

Management skills

  • Strong leadership skills.


Presentation and negotiation skills

  • Creative and able to inspire others to be curious and innovative.

Budgeting and debtor management skills

  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation, business planning, budgeting and margin analysis.

Technical knowledge/experience

  • Passion and understanding of financial services in general. In-depth commercial, technical and/or operational experience in the fields of regulated and unregulated structures in relevant jurisdiction.

Company, product and market knowledge

  • Ability to contribute to vision for the local company’s future (linked to the global, long term vision).
