CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

TotalEnergies Marketing Mauritius Ltd is looking for a Chief Accountant to join the team!

The Chief Accountant is a key person within the Finance department, and he ensures accuracy, compliance and reliability of figures. This position ensures compliance with all applicable accounting and tax regulations.

The potential candidate will be responsible for the following:

Accounting

• Prepare journal entries, reconciliation and variances explanation. Submit to Finance Director (FD) or Managing Director for approval if necessary
• Supervise all accounting operations handled by the team: receivable, payable and general accounting.
• Verify that accounting by the shared service center is done adequately in accordance with tickets submitted by accounting staff
• Analyze accounts and provide a monthly report to be reviewed with the FD – in line with internal procedure
• Ensure proper stock valuation. Analyze variation of moving average prices and inform Operations Team of any discrepancy
• Ensure weekly reconciliation with Network team to align on revenues, cost of sales (if applicable) and margins
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of our financial statement
• Ensure the financial statement validation without reserve by Auditors
• Handle any projects related to accounting

Management: Ensure efficiency of team members whilst guiding and supporting them on a day-to-day basis

• Maintain an updated job description for each team member
• Ensure balance of workload amongst team members
• Support accounting team members individually in their daily tasks and interaction with other services within TEMML

Closing tasks and reporting: Lead monthly, quarterly and yearly accounts closings

• Ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting data such as posting of invoices, provisions and cancellations of provisions
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all inventories (tangibles assets and stock). Ensure that end of year stock take also include External Auditors, Operation Team Members and Internal Auditor
• Establish monthly Working Capital Requirement (WCR)
• Prepare CAP consolidation quarterly following head office’s guidelines
• Prepare year-end financial statement

Taxes

• Calculate monthly and year end corporate taxes to be accrued
• Compute and submit local tax and liaise with Tax Consultants for any relevant issue
• Ensure filing of tax return according to MRA calendar

Internal control

• Update procedures as and when required
• Ensure segregation of duties of all accounting staff On SAP. 
• Maintain quarterly KPI in green e.g., asset under construction, clearing amongst others

PROFILE

• Holder of ACA,or ACCA
• Certified Chartered Accountant
• Well versed in International Auditing & Accounting Standards (IFRS)
• At least 5 years’ experience in accounting and preferably in a multinational company
• Good knowledge of SAP
• Fluent in both English and French
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Willing to contribute and progress by learning new activities
• Able to work long and odd hours when necessary
