Green Create Nutra Ltd is seeking a site manager to co-ordinate and manage day to day operations of an Aquaculture facility located at Savinia near L’Escalier, Mauritius. The site manager will report to the operations director and work closely with laboratory and operations staff.

Main responsibilities:

• oversee day-to-day operations of an algae production facility, including maintenance of ponds, harvesting, drying, processing and packaging of product
• recruit and manage a small team of operations staff
• co-ordinate and carry out maintenance schedule for ponds, including: take daily samples for analysis, remove debris, clean, feed and re-start ponds as necessary
• plan, co-ordinate and carry out harvesting and processing, including start-up and cleaning of equipment, filtration, drying, tabletting, packaging and shut-down
• ensure operations are compliant with regulatory and certification requirements e.g. HACCP
• manage inventory and ordering of supplies
• co-ordinate maintenance of equipment and grounds
• solve technical problems and carry out preventative maintenance, including sourcing parts and materials and seeking manufacturer technical support
• any other work necessary for the plant operations, as may be determined by management

Profile & qualifications:

• Minimum Diploma/Bachelor degree level or >3 years management experience
• Mechanical/electrical engineering skills
• Experience in maintenance of equipment e.g. pumps, motors, plumbing, electronics, gas systems
• Fluent in English & French/Creole
• Own transport required (isolated site – no public transport available)
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Good communication and management skills
• Organised and motivated, able to prioritise work and complete tasks efficiently
• Flexible and committed, with a can-do attitude
• Willing to take own initiative in anticipating and solving problems
• Willing to come to site during evening and weekend shifts when necessary
• Experience in the food processing, pharmaceutical or aquaculture industry will be an advantage
• Experience working in a HACCP/ISO9001 environment will be an advantage
