Our client in the financial sector is seeking to recruit a Senior Customer Assistant - Marine Insurance who will be the main Underwriter for Marine Insurances (Cargo and Hull) and will assess risks and process quotations and covers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Optimal and balanced approach to underwriting and ensure risks are underwritten within Company's stipulated guidelines and protected with adequate reinsurance.
  • Support in developing and nurturing intermediary and re-insurer relationships with the aim of securing regular Marine business.
  • Underwrite policies and where necessary, arrange facultative reinsurance placement and/or obtain treaty special acceptance.
  • Reinsurance allocation and monitor risk accumulation.
  • Review of underwriting results and assist in implementation of appropriate actions when necessary.
  • Review of Underwriting Guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on Marine products.
  • Assist in marine claims, where required.
  • Handle Marketing queries on referrals and other marine insurance-related matters and support growth in GWP and Underwriting Profit in line with Company's strategic business plan.
  • Support product development and review including reinsurance support and policy drafting.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure effective overall workflow.
  • Extract and collate statistics and reports for Management.
  • Supervise and provide training for junior underwriter and staff.
  • Any other underwriting and related tasks assigned by HOD.
Profile:

  • Either School Certificate or GCE O Level with credit in at least 5 subjects including English Language, French and Mathematics plus HSC/GCE A Level in at least three subjects (3 Main) or equivalent (IB, Baccalaureate). OR
  • Part Professional qualifications progressing towards completion (at least Diploma level) of ACII. OR
  • At least a Diploma in a related field of competence.
  • 3-year relevant working experien.ce
  • Broad knowledge of the market development on marine insurance matters, other companies' strategies, world trades and economy will be a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel & Word).
  • Good rapport building and interpersonal skills with strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Personable and effective in communication.
