We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Credit Controller to join our Finance team.
Responsibilities:
- Credit Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers.
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information to assess risk.
- Credit Limits and Terms:
- Set and review credit limits for customers based on risk assessments.
- Negotiate and establish credit terms with clients.
- Invoicing and Billing:
- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing of customers.
- Monitor billing processes and resolve any discrepancies.
- Debt Collection:
- Manage and reduce outstanding debt through effective collection strategies.
- Contact customers to arrange timely payment and resolve payment issues.
- Credit Policy Compliance:
- Enforce credit policies and procedures.
- Recommend updates to credit policies based on market trends and company needs.
- Customer Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding overdue payments.
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries related to credit and billing.
- Credit Reporting:
- Prepare and present credit reports to management.
- Provide insights into credit trends and customer payment behaviors.
- Payment Reconciliation:
- Reconcile customer payments with invoices and accounts receivable records.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payment records.
- Legal Action:
- Initiate legal proceedings when necessary to recover outstanding debts.
- Collaborate with legal and collection agencies as required.
- Documentation and Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions and payment details.
- Ensure proper documentation of credit-related decisions.
- Reporting:
- Generate and analyze reports related to credit control performance.
- Provide regular updates to management on outstanding debts and credit issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 5 years or more of experience in credit control or a similar role.
- Knowledge of credit risk assessment, debt collection, and credit laws.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using financial software and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
