Job Description
The Kitchen Helper assists the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient working environment. The role supports food preparation activities, ensures proper handling and storage of food items, and contributes to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
• Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and food preparation areas.
• Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies.
• Ensure kitchen areas remain clean, organised, and compliant with hygiene standards.
• Support chefs and kitchen staff during meal preparation and service.
• Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain cleanliness of storage and waste disposal areas.
• Follow all health, safety, and food hygiene procedures.
• Report any equipment faults, shortages, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Experience & Qualifications
• Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, hotel, catering service, or similar environment would be an advantage.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn.
