Job Description
Reporting to the Group Placement & Reinsurance Director, the Associate Director will play a key role in supporting the development, coordination, and oversight of OLEA’s placement and reinsurance activities across Africa.
The role involves managing the Group’s reinsurance portfolio, supporting subsidiaries with their placement and reinsurance needs, strengthening relationships with market partners, and contributing to the continuous improvement of operational processes and team performance.
Your Responsibilities:
Business Development & Strategy
- Oversee and monitor OLEA’s reinsurance portfolio, ensuring accurate contract registration, timely updates, and high-quality data management;
- Identify opportunities for growth and expansion of the Group Placement & Reinsurance function across Africa;
- Support OLEA subsidiaries in their reinsurance placements and coordinate with brokers and reinsurers to secure optimal solutions;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, reinsurers, cedents, and internal stakeholders across the Group;
- Actively contribute to the development of new business opportunities and promote OLEA’s placement and reinsurance capabilities throughout the region.
Operations & Team Leadership
- Ensure the smooth and efficient execution of placement and reinsurance activities by identifying and resolving operational and strategic challenges;
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to processes, reporting tools, and operational efficiency;
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and market best practices;
- Support the development of team capabilities by identifying training needs and growth opportunities;
- Mentor, coach, and support team members to enhance their skills, performance, and professional development.
Your Profile
- Master's degree in insurance, Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field;
- CII qualification or equivalent professional insurance/reinsurance certification is highly desirable;
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in similar role related to insurance or reinsurance, with significant exposure to placement and broking activities;
- Proven experience managing and developing teams, including remote or geographically dispersed teams;
- Strong understanding of reinsurance markets, placements, and stakeholder management;
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills;
- Comfortable working in a multicultural and international environment;
- Fluent in both English and French, with professional proficiency in written and spoken communication;
- Willingness and availability to travel across OLEA’s business territories.
