Job Description – External Auditors
(Associate / Senior)
Job Summary
We are seeking motivated, detail-oriented,
and collaborative professionals to join our External Audit team at Associate
and Senior levels.
The role involves supporting and/or leading
external audit assignments for a portfolio of clients across various
industries, while also contributing to the preparation and review of
consolidated financial statements and group reporting engagements.
Responsibilities will vary depending on the
candidate’s level of experience and seniority.
Key Responsibilities
External Audit
- Participate in the planning, execution, and completion of
statutory external audit assignments in accordance with applicable
auditing standards and internal methodology.
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules to ensure
compliance with IFRS and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform audit testing on key financial statement areas
including revenue, expenses, payroll, fixed assets, receivables, payables,
and provisions.
- Assess internal controls, identify audit risks, and recommend
improvements where appropriate.
- Prepare audit working papers and maintain accurate, complete
audit documentation.
- Draft audit findings, management letters, and reports for
internal review.
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain information, clarify
audit matters, and ensure timely completion of assignments.
Depending on level and experience,
responsibilities may also include:
- Leading audit engagements and coordinating fieldwork
assignments
- Supervising junior team members and reviewing work performed by
Associates
- Providing coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to
junior staff
- Supporting managers in engagement planning, budgeting, and
client relationship management
Consolidation & Group Reporting
- Assist in the preparation and/or review of consolidated
financial statements for group entities.
- Review reporting packages submitted by subsidiaries or
components.
- Perform reconciliation of intercompany balances and
transactions.
- Prepare and/or review consolidation journals, elimination
entries, and supporting schedules.
- Analyse consolidation adjustments including minority interests,
investments, foreign exchange translation, and group reclassifications.
- Support audit teams on group audit engagements involving
multi-entity structures.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable accounting standards
relating to consolidation and group reporting.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the firm’s
audit methodology, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality, independence, and professional ethics
at all times.
- Keep up to date with developments in accounting, auditing, and
consolidation standards.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, or related field
- ACCA / ACA / CPA qualification completed or in progress
Experience
- Associate level: 1–3 years of
experience in external audit within an audit firm or professional services
environment
- Senior level: 4–7 years of relevant
experience in external audit within an audit firm or professional services
environment
- Exposure to group audits, consolidated financial statements, or
group reporting is highly desirable
- Experience working with clients across multiple sectors would
be an advantage
Technical Skills
Good knowledge of:
- External audit procedures and audit methodology
- IFRS
- Consolidation principles and group reporting
- Intercompany reconciliations and elimination entries
- Financial statement analysis
Additional requirements:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of audit software and/or consolidation tools would be
an advantage
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and professional scepticism
- Good communication and client relationship management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
