Job Summary/Overview

The Boarding Officer/Ship Agent (Operations) is the first point of contact for vessels arriving into the port and processes all necessary formalities and declarations in a timely manner to ensure smooth entry and departure of ships assigned. He ensures full compliance to statutory formalities and factual declarations. The Boarding Officer/Ship Agent (Operations) identifies bottlenecks to propose improvements to the organisation's workflow and assists with its subsequent implementation.

The Boarding Officer/Ship Agent (Operations) is expected to establish good relationships with the Ship Captain and is an organised person who is able to juggle the demands of paperwork and on-site work. He
may be expected to work irregular hours to cater to the different arrival times of ships, and cope with unanticipated events and tight work schedules.

Functions /Responsibilities

Coordinate vessel arrival with Principal

Announce vessel’s arrival to Terminal/Port authority.

Attend daily port meeting

To provide port position to Principal

Prepare vessel formalities and send to Port authority

Ensure communication with vessel regarding actual schedule and berthing

Attending vessel while at berth (Arrival & Departure)

Upload Sharaf Marine System and send arrival and departure report to Principal

Provide regular update to Principal and Ship’s command

Attend Cargo matters if required

Report issues to Principals and Master

Issue invoice to Principals

Ability to during work long and odd hours

 Education and work experience

Higher School Certificate

At least 2 working years in shipping field

  • Berthing delays
  • Timely Afsys reporting
  • Departure Delays
  • Time frame for Vessel to start Operations
  • Timely and correct vessel update to Principals

Other Requirements:

Driving License and own vehicle.
