Job Description

C-Care Mauritius is currently looking for a HVAC Technician.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within the hospital premises to maintain a safe, comfortable, and compliant environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

What you will be doing:
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, ventilation systems, chillers, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure efficient operation of HVAC systems.
  • Monitor temperature, humidity, and air quality levels in critical hospital areas.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC faults and respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
  • Ensure proper functioning of ventilation systems in patient rooms, operating theatres, laboratories, and other hospital areas.
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of HVAC equipment to identify potential issues and prevent downtime.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, service reports, and records of repairs and inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, infection control measures, and hospital policies.
  • Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance and repair works when required.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and recommend improvements to HVAC performance.
What are we looking for?
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC-related issues efficiently.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and HVAC schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively during emergencies.
  • Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting and documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
  • National Trade Certificate (NTC) / Diploma / Certificate in HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Experience with chillers, AHU systems, ventilation systems, and centralized air conditioning systems will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Relevant technical certifications or licenses will be an advantage.
