Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect, label, prepare, and analyse samples of cane, juice, syrup, molasses, sugar, bagasse, filter cake, mud, effluent, wastewater, and other raw materials, intermediate products, final products, and by-products.
  • Perform routine laboratory and environmental tests such as Brix, pH, moisture, purity, density, COD, TSS, conductivity, temperature, turbidity, and other required parameters.
  • Conduct bench tests on process chemicals such as lime, caustic solution, phosphoric acid, biocide, and other chemicals used in the factory process.
  • Prepare reagents, standard solutions, and other laboratory requirements as needed.
  • Record, compile, and enter test results accurately on PC and report abnormal results promptly for operational follow-up.
  • Carry out calibration of certain laboratory equipment and perform verification and routine checking of balances, factory flowmeters, and other measuring equipment as required.
  • Assist in stock taking of factory products and process materials, and maintain inventory of laboratory chemicals, reagents, consumables, and equipment.
  • Follow laboratory methods, SOPs, good laboratory practices, safety procedures, and maintain proper housekeeping of the laboratory and equipment.
  • Work on a shift system, including day and night shifts, as per operational requirements.
Profile
  • Computer literate.
  • Good verbal and communication communication skills. 
Qualifications & Experience
  • Cambridges School Certificate with Chemistry and/or Biology.
  • At least two (2) years' or relevant working experience.
