Job Description

A Pastry & Bakery Chef specializes in crafting and decorating breads, pastries, and desserts. They blend precision, culinary artistry, and baking science to develop menus, manage kitchen staff, and ensure food safety in restaurants, hotels, or independent bakeries


Core Responsibilities

Production: Prepare a wide range of baked goods, including doughs, breads, cakes, tarts, cookies, and confections.

Menu Development: Design seasonal dessert and pastry menus that complement the venue's overall offerings.

Decoration & Plating: Artistically finish and plate confections using icings, glazes, sauces, and custom designs.

Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of baking supplies, ingredients, and equipment to place orders within budget.

Quality & Safety: Enforce strict hygiene standards, monitor baking temperatures, and ensure all food safety regulations are met.

Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and supervise junior pastry cooks, bakers, and assistants.


Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of baking techniques, ingredient limitations (e.g., gluten-free), and the science of dough and batter.

Artistic Flair: Strong attention to detail and visual aesthetics for decorating and plating desserts.

Education: A diploma, degree, or certificate in culinary arts, pastry making, or a related hospitality field.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long hours, work early mornings or weekends, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
