Job Profile:

 

        The Social Media Specialist oversees and coordinates our social media operations across multiple African regions.

 

        With Social Media strategic vision, regional understanding, and leadership skills, the Social Media Specialist will drive innovative campaigns, foster community growth, and contribute to our overall regional expansion goals.

 

        In this supervisory role, the Social Media Specialist, under the guidance of the Social Media Manager,  will also be called upon to manage a team of Social Media Assistants/Trainees and Content Creators based in the different countries where the business operates, ensuring unified brand messaging, regional relevance, and impactful digital engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

1.      Regional & Cross-Platform Social Media Strategy 

 

        Execute region-specific social media strategies aligned with overall corporate marketing objectives and regional market nuances. 

        Oversee the planning and implementation of campaigns tailored to different African audiences, cultures, and languages. 

        Ensure regional activities are integrated into a cohesive, continent-wide social media presence.

 

2.      Content Oversight & Creative Direction 

 

        Guide content creation teams to produce engaging, culturally relevant, and platform-optimized content. 

        Review and approve content strategies, ensuring alignment with regional trends, legal regulations, and brand guidelines. 

        Promote innovative content formats, including video, live sessions, and influencer collaborations.

 

3.      Community Engagement & Regional Relationships 

 

        Lead efforts to build and nurture vibrant online communities in various markets. 

        Monitor regional engagement metrics, respond to escalated issues, and develop regional influencer and partner relationships. 

        Drive initiatives to increase followers, engagement, and brand loyalty across different markets.

 

4.      Campaign Management & Regional Coordination 

 

        Lead planning and execution of regional campaigns, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with corporate goals. 

        Collaborate with regional teams, agencies, and partners to maximize campaign impact. 

        Oversee paid social media efforts, ensuring budget optimization and targeted audience reach.

 

5.      Performance Monitoring & Reporting 

 

        Establish KPIs based on social media data, such as engagement, reach, impressions, follower growth, CTR, conversions, sentiment, and virality. Tailor these KPIs to regional goals and platforms.

 

    Use social media analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Hootsuite) to collect, analyze, and visualize data across channels. Implement tracking pixels, UTM parameters, and APIs for detailed data.

 

   Set up dashboards and real-time tracking to monitor performance continuously. Identify patterns, spikes, or drops in engagement, audience behavior, and content effectiveness per region.

 

        Analyze data to understand audience demographics, preferences, sentiment, and content success.

 

        Prepare visual reports with charts, heatmaps, and dashboards. Highlight successes, pinpoint issues, and provide actionable insights.

 

        Use insights to optimize content, posting schedules, campaigns, and targeting strategies for better regional performance.

 

        Benchmark performance across markets to find best practices, standardize tactics, and adapt strategies for lower-performing regions.

 

        Share analytics insights with management and stakeholders to inform strategic planning, campaigns, and resource allocation.

 

        Ensure accurate data collection, handle user data properly, and comply with regional privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, POPIA).

 

6.      Trends, Innovation & Compliance 

 

        Stay informed about regional social media trends, platform updates, and regulatory requirements. 

        Encourage experimentation with new content formats and engagement tactics tailored to African audiences. 

        Ensure all activities comply with regional laws, platform policies, and ethical standards.

 

7.      Cross-Functional Collaboration & Regional Synergy 

 

        Collaborate with marketing, design, product, and compliance teams.

        Share insights, best practices, and innovative ideas across markets to foster continuous improvement. 

 

 

8.      Regional Leadership & Team Management 

 

        Mentor Social Media Executives/Trainees and Content Creators across different African markets. 

        Coordinate regional activities, ensuring consistency in brand voice, content quality, and campaign execution. 

        Monitor performance and facilitate ongoing training and development to build a high-performing team. 

 

Candidate Profile:

 

        Degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or equivalent.

        A minimum of 2 years of Social Media supervisory experience. 

  Proven experience in performance monitoring and reporting using social media analytics tools, with strong skills in KPI tracking, data visualization, and insight-driven reporting.

     Proven ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and recommend strategic actions, while ensuring compliance with regional data privacy regulations.

        Excellent communication skills to present insights effectively to Management and stakeholders.

        Excellent experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.) and analytics platforms.
