About Ecoshe
Ecoshe is looking for a skilled and reliable Sous Chef to support our Executive Sous Chef and contribute to our growing plant-based kitchen operations in the niche and growing market of vegan cuisine in Mauritius.
At Ecoshe, we promote sustainability through food, working with hotels, businesses, and communities to transform the way people experience plant-based cuisine. We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our growing Kitchen team as we expand our food production and distribution operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
- Assist the Executive Sous Chef in daily kitchen management
- Ability to take full responsibility for kitchen operations in their absence
- Ensure all kitchen activities run efficiently
Team Supervision
- Supervise kitchen staff during preparation and production
- Train and guide junior team members
- Maintain discipline, workflow, and hygiene standards
Production & Planning
- Work closely with the Executive Sous Chef on production schedules, prep lists, and batch cooking organization
- Ensure consistency across all recipes and processes
Quality Control
- Monitor taste, texture, and presentation
- Ensure all products and dishes meet required standards
- Make adjustments where necessary
Admin & Coordination Support
- Assist in stock control and ingredient usage
- Help reduce waste and manage portioning
- Coordinate with the Kitchen Coordinator for smooth operations
Menu & Product Development
- Assist in testing new recipes and products
- Provide feedback and contribute to improvements
Job Requirements
- Culinary Certificate / Diploma or minimum 4–6 years of experience in a professional kitchen
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Strong culinary and technical skills
- Proven leadership and team management abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work closely with management
- Valid driving license required
Experience-Based Profile
- Candidates without formal qualifications may be considered if they have:
- Proven experience as Chef de Partie or similar
- Experience working directly under a Head Chef / Executive Chef
- Ability to manage both people and operations
- Interest in vegan cuisine
Preferred Certifications
- Food Safety / HACCP
- Specialized training (vegan cuisine, production kitchen, etc.)

Compensation & Benefits
Gross monthly salary of Rs 25,000 – Rs 30,000
