Job Description
JOB DUTIES:
Receiving & Unloading
- Receive and verify all incoming deliveries from suppliers against purchase orders, invoices and other related documents.
- Inspect inbound orders for damage, discrepancies, expiration dates, and quality issues.
- Properly handle and store perishable items within required timeframe to maintain product freshness and quality.
- Record discrepancies (shortages, damages, wrong items) on the delivery paperwork.
- Transfer merchandise to designated storage areas in an organized manner.
- Utilize FIFO and FEFO as may be required to minimise waste.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized receiving dock and backroom storage areas.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory counts as required.
- Report low stock levels, overstock situations, and potential out-of-stocks to the Management.
- Manage and document inter-store transfers or returns to the warehouse/suppliers.
- Monitor and report any discrepancies, damages, or thefts.
- Accurately enter receiving data on scanners in a timely manner.
- Process all paperwork, including invoices, return authorizations (AFC), and credit memos for approval by Managers.
- Reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and purchase orders/invoices.
- Maintain precise records of all goods received notes (GRN), credit notes, and breakage logs.
- Ensure compliance with all company receiving and inventory control policies and procedures.
- Adhere to food safety and health and safety regulations.
- Process and prepare damaged, defective, or unsaleable merchandise for return to suppliers.
- Accurately complete all necessary return documentation.
- Safely store return pallets or claims in the designated area for pickup.
- Properly document and dispose of damaged/waste items per company policy.
- Communicate effectively with department managers regarding received goods, shortages, and special orders.
- Report equipment malfunctions and safety hazards to the Management for remedial actions.
- Report on security concerns (e.g., suspicious deliveries) to Management pro-actively.
- May assist with stocking shelves during peak periods or as directed by Management.
- Operate all equipment in a safe manner as per company policy.
- Ensure the receiving bay and backroom aisles are clear of debris and obstructions.
- Follow all lock-up and security protocols for the receiving area.
- Verify the identity of delivery personnel whenever required.
- Ensure merchandise are safely handled from reception until storage.
- Ensure pallet jacks, trolleys, and scanning devices are kept in good working order.

- Prior experience in Storekeeping & Inventory Management
- Responsible, reliable and well organised.

- Physically fit - Able to perform manual work
- Able to work both individually and part of a team
