Job Description

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Direct and coordinate all subordinate accounting staff to ensure all day-to-day transactions are completed on time and verified for management review.
  2. To ensure that the daily report is produced accurately and on time, and reconciles with the Guest Ledger Debit Report.
  3. To prepare all accounting and statistical information, including variance analysis, for the monthly Profit & Loss management reports.
  4. To ensure that all accruals and prepayments are accurate and supported with complete backup documentation on a monthly basis.
  5. To provide accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet control accounts with complete supporting documentation for the Controller’s monthly review.
  6. To assist in the preparation of the hotel’s annual budget and subsequent forecasting by providing data, statistics, and supporting materials as required by Department Heads.
  7. To ensure that month-end closing is completed accurately and that reports are generated within nine working days of month-end.
  8. Conduct periodic surprise counts on all cash floats within the hotel.
  9. Assist the Financial Controller in producing accurate month-end accounts, including comparisons to forecasts and previous periods.
  10. Monitor monthly departmental expenditures and advise the Controller in the event that any department or area is overspending.
  11. To advise the Controller in the event of any bad debts or non-approved credit matters.
  12. To ensure that purchasing and petty cash procedures comply with hotel policies.
  13. Manage all phases of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and departmental budgeting.
  14. Verify recorded transactions and report any irregularities to management.
  15. Review the Accounts Receivable (A/R) ageing reports on a daily basis.
  16. Monitor and control all property inventories to ensure appropriate stock levels without negatively impacting property cash flows.
  17. Maintain files of all contracts, insurance policies, tax reports, expenses, payroll records, and related documentation.
  18. Review postings, payments, revenue, and guest balance reports on a daily basis.
  19. Maintain efficient administration within the department by preparing and submitting operational reports on time.
  20. Ensure employees are selected, trained, evaluated, and rewarded in accordance with established employee management systems.
  21. Coach, counsel, discipline, and develop subordinate employees to support performance improvement and professional growth.

 Years of Related Experience

  • 3 to 4 years demonstrated accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality or food and beverage environment and quality with a background that includes forecasting and budgeting.

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • ACCA Final Level in process
  • Internal audit experience and Qualified Accountant is an advantage
