Job Description
Primary Objectives
The Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint, varnish, and other finishes to buildings, structures, and other surfaces to protect, maintain, and enhance their appearance. The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of materials, and adherence to safety standards.
The Industrial Painter is responsible for applying protective and specialty coatings to industrial equipment, structures, pipelines, tanks, and facilities. The role focuses on corrosion protection, durability, and compliance with technical and safety standards.
The Automotive Painter is responsible for preparing and painting vehicles to restore or enhance their appearance, ensuring smooth, consistent, and high-quality finishes in line with manufacturer and customer standards.
The Decorative Painter is responsible for applying paints, textures, and decorative finishes to residential, commercial, or artistic surfaces to enhance aesthetic appeal and meet design requirements.
Job Description
Protect surrounding areas with drop cloths, masking tape, and coverings
· Inspect completed work to ensure quality and correct any defects
· Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area
· Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times
· Estimate materials and assist with stock control when required
· Prepare metal and structural surfaces by sandblasting, grinding, cleaning, or chemical treatment
· Apply industrial coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, fire-resistant, and anti-corrosion paints
· Operate spray equipment (airless, conventional, or electrostatic)
· Measure coating thickness and ensure quality compliance
· Read and follow technical drawings, specifications, and coating data sheets
· Perform touch-ups, repairs, and recoating as required
· Follow strict health, safety, and environmental procedures
· Maintain equipment and ensure proper storage of hazardous materials
· Inspect vehicles for surface damage and repair imperfections
· Prepare vehicle surfaces through sanding, masking, and priming
· Mix and match paint colours according to specifications
· Apply paint using spray guns in a controlled booth environment
· Perform polishing and finishing to achieve a flawless surface
· Maintain spray booths, tools, and safety equipment
· Follow safety procedures related to solvents, paints, and equipment
· Ensure quality control and customer satisfaction
Responsibilities:

· Experience in industrial or protective coatings
· Knowledge of surface preparation standards (e.g., SSPC, ISO)
· Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
· Strong attention to safety and detail
· Physical stamina and teamwork skills
· Proven experience in automotive refinishing or spray painting
· Knowledge of paint systems (water-based, solvent-based)
· Colour-matching skills and attention to detail
· Ability to work efficiently under time constraints
· Understanding of health and safety practices
· Carries out fabrication of special projects.
· Support in rooms maintenance operation.
· Advises the Chief Engineer, through his supervisor concerning major repairs/changes required.
· Co-operates and assists other tradesmen when required.
