Job Description

Main Tasks - 

  • Plan, implement and coordinate practical health and safety programs.
  • Maintain statutory compliance to the prescribed legal requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to develop a safe and healthy working culture.
  • Carry out regular occupational safety and health audits to identify risks to safety and health.
  • Assess the need for preventive measures to safeguard the safety and health of stakeholders.
  • Review any measure, method, procedure, or technique adopted to ensure health and safety at regular intervals.
  • Coordinate and assist with technical training and overall competency to management and employees with regards to operational aspects of the health and safety program, environmental, operational methods, and personnel practices.
  • Nurture good working relationships both within and across departments under the health and safety program.
  • Ensure that all registers records and documentation relating to the role are properly maintained.
  • Work closely with other safety roles within the company – assisting as required and develop a supportive relationship.
  • Be responsible for managing own workload, escalating issues where required.
  • Develop effective communication systems on occupational safety and health between the employer and any employee.
  • Inspect all places of work at least once every month and record the findings.
  • Exercise adequate supervision to ensure the effective implementation of arrangements made and preventive measures taken.
  • Enquire into complaints made by stakeholders, occupational accidents, and dangerous occurrences at any place of work and recommend any safety and health measures to be implemented.
  • Compile, write up and manage reports and their timelines and deadlines.
  • Liaise with local authority officials as required.

Experience:

  • Hold a BSC in Health & Safety or any equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hotel industry on a similar position.
  • Proven experience working in luxury resorts will be an advantage.

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Up to date with trends and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively in English & French.
  • Strong attention to details

Requirements:

  • Valid driving permit 
  • Available to work & travel between the 2 resorts in Mauritius
