Job Description

The Accounts Officer supports the financial health and operational efficiency of McDonald’s by assisting in day-to-day accounting tasks, reporting, and internal controls.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in accordance with company policies.
  • Reconcile daily sales reports, bank statements, and cash balances from multiple restaurants.
  • Assist in monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements.
  • Maintain general ledger entries and ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Monitor and report on variances between budget and actuals.
  • Prepare tax returns, VAT declarations, and ensure statutory compliance.
  • Handle petty cash records and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Assist in internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
  • Provide financial data and support to restaurant managers when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Experience in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and MS Excel.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting, payroll, and tax requirements.
  • Time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills to work with internal departments and vendors.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive information.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field / or at least and ACCA level 1 completed
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar accounting role; experience in retail or food service is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of local tax laws and accounting standards.
