PROCESS ENGINEERING – CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

Established in 1989 and part of Ciel Textile, the textile cluster of CIEL Group, CDL Knits Ltd is the Fabric Mill division of the Tropic Knits Group.  Delivering high-quality fabrics to global markets, our fully integrated knitting, dyeing, and finishing facility is located in Forest Side, Mauritius.

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Process Engineer to drive process improvement, digitalisation and automation across our manufacturing operations. This role will help us streamline processes, introduce smart technologies and deliver measurable gains in productivity and quality.

Reporting to the Head of Continuous Improvement, the successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, IT and Supply Chain teams to deliver sustainable business results.

YOUR MISSION

Optimise manufacturing processes and lead the adoption of digital and automated solutions, ensuring the organisation achieves world-class standards in productivity, quality, delivery, and cost competitiveness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Engineering & Improvement

  • Analyse, map and document manufacturing processes across Fabric and Garment operations.
  • Identify bottlenecks, waste and inefficiencies, and implement practical improvements.
  • Develop and maintain process standards, procedures and best practices.
  • Apply Lean tools such as Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Lead process improvement projects with measurable business impact.
  • Support factory layout and material flow improvement projects.

Digitalisation

  • Identify and implement digital solutions to improve visibility, traceability and decision-making on the shop floor.
  • Support the deployment of production monitoring, data collection and reporting systems.
  • Build dashboards and reports to track KPIs and process performance in real time.
  • Work with IT and system providers to integrate digital tools into existing processes.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making across departments.

Automation

  • Evaluate and recommend automation opportunities to improve productivity, quality and consistency.
  • Support the specification, selection, installation and commissioning of automated equipment and systems.
  • Prepare business cases and cost-benefit analyses for automation and digital projects.
  • Work with Maintenance and suppliers to ensure smooth implementation and reliable operation.
  • Support operators and supervisors in adopting new technologies and ways of working.

Progress Tracking & Performance

  • Define and monitor KPIs for productivity, efficiency, quality, waste and capacity utilization.
  • Track project progress, milestones and benefits realization, and report results to management.
  • Ensure improvement initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
  • Support manufacturing teams in achieving operational excellence targets.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Share best practices between Mauritius and Madagascar operations.
  • Contribute to the standardization of processes and systems across sites.
  • Support new factory developments, expansions and strategic projects.
  • Travel occasionally between sites to support project implementation.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Process, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering or Operations Management will be an advantage.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt) will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering or continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience delivering process improvement, digitalisation or automation projects.
  • Experience in textile, apparel or high-volume manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
