Job Description
ACTIVITIES
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities to assess project requirements.
- Prepare detailed estimates for materials, labour, plant, subcontractors, and other project costs.
- Conduct site visits and assess site conditions, access, services, and other factors affecting project costs.
- Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Analyse quantities, production rates, team requirements, and construction methods for tender pricing.
- Assist in preparing tender submissions, pricing, Bills of Quantities, and qualifying letters.
- Identify project risks, potential cost savings, and opportunities for alternative construction methods or materials.
- Liaise with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, Quantity Surveyors, and the Contracts/Site Management teams.
- Assist in developing construction programmes and preliminary and general costs.
- Participate in tender reviews, negotiations, tender openings, and post-tender analysis.
- Prepare estimates and budgets for negotiated works and assist site teams with rates for variations and additional works.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends, material costs, subcontractor pricing, and upcoming tender opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an Estimator.
- Strong knowledge of estimating, pricing, and tendering.
- Knowledge of construction costs, materials, labour, and subcontractors.
- Good understanding of contract law.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous, organised, and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
