Job Description

Job Summary

The Facultative Placement Specialist will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination of facultative reinsurance placements, ensuring that appropriate capacity is secured on competitive terms and within required timelines. The role will involve close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

  • Review and coordinate facultative reinsurance placement requests.
  • Negotiate with brokers and reinsurers to secure appropriate terms.
  • Prepare and manage facultative placement submissions and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date placement records and documentation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of facultative reinsurance information recorded in relevant systems.
  • Monitor placements and follow up on outstanding matters to ensure timely completion.
  • Engage proactively with relevant stakeholders to anticipate placement needs, market trends and business opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance reinsurance capacity.
  • Maintain effective relationships with brokers and reinsurance markets.
  • Support the continuous improvement of facultative placement processes, controls and service standards.

Job Requirements

  • A degree or professional qualification in Insurance, Reinsurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • Relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: insurance, underwriting, reinsurance, broking or facultative placement.
  • Sound knowledge of insurance and reinsurance principles.
  • Exposure to commercial insurance classes would be an advantage.
  • Professional insurance or reinsurance qualifications would be an added advantage.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple placements and competing priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and sound judgement.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach and ability to anticipate business and capacity requirements.
  • Ability to work within established governance, controls and turnaround times.
