Accountant

Join ABC Automobile as a Accountant and play a key role in overseeing financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations and internal controls across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and maintain accurate accounting transactions in the accounting system.
• Prepare and process invoices, credit notes, journals and other accounting entries.
• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger and control accounts.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer balances.
• Assist with accounts payable, including supplier invoices, payment processing and account reconciliations.
• Verify accounting documents and ensure transactions are properly supported and authorised.
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Prepare regular financial and accounting reports for review by Management.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial schedules.
• Monitor intercompany transactions and assist with intercompany reconciliations.
• Assist with cash flow monitoring and provide accurate financial information when required.
• Maintain proper and up-to-date accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and provide supporting documents to auditors.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, Company policies and internal control procedures.
• Identify and report accounting discrepancies, irregularities and control issues to the relevant supervisor or Management.
• Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and other statutory financial information.

Qualifications & Experience

• Higher School Certificate with Accounting and Mathematics.
• ACCA qualified
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
• Experience in financial accounting, management reporting, reconciliations and internal controls.
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting systems/ERP would be an advantage.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet strict finance deadlines, particularly month-end and year-end deadlines.
