Assistant Accountant - Based in Port Louis

Main Duties:

• Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
• Record financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, in accounting software or spreadsheets. Ensure timely reconciliation is done.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist in financial analysis by preparing reports and summaries for review by senior staff.
• Assist in processing invoices, verify discrepancies, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
• Provide support in monitoring and managing customer accounts, invoicing, and collections.
• Assist with tax preparation, VAT and TDS and ensure compliance by gathering necessary documentation and information.
• Assist in internal or external audits by providing documentation and data as requested.
• Assist in the maintenance and management of accounting systems and software.
• Support the implementation of upgrades or changes to financial systems.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
• Collaborate with other team members within the finance department and across other departments.
• Assist in ensuring prompt reply to queries from BOM and FSC.

Profile:

• Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.

• Excellent organizational skills including planning, prioritizing and meeting deadlines.
• Dynamic good interpersonal, results-driven approach, analytical skills, proactive and detail oriented.

• Good understanding of financial reporting, and tax requirements.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field / ACCA Level 2 or equivalent acceptable qualification.
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in retail is an advantage.
