Assistant Bar Manager

We are looking for an Assistant Bar Manager who enjoys being around people, takes pride in good service and is comfortable leading a team in a busy hotel environment.

Working closely with the Bar Manager, you will help run the bar on a daily basis, making sure the team is supported, guests are well looked after and service runs smoothly. You will be hands-on, visible on the floor and involved in everything from coaching the team and improving service to managing stock, controlling costs and driving sales.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Bar Manager with the daily running of the bar and make sure service is smooth, organised and up to the expected standard.
• Be present on the floor, support the team during busy periods and step in whenever help is needed.
• Organise daily duties and make sure the team is well prepared for each shift.
• Guide, coach and train team members on service, product knowledge and ways to improve sales.
• Help new team members settle into the team and support their development as they gain experience.
• Make sure guests feel welcome and well looked after, and deal with any requests or concerns in a calm and professional manner.
• Listen to guest feedback and work with the team to find simple ways to improve the service we provide.
• Keep a close eye on beverage stock, wastage and costs and support the Bar Manager with monthly stock takes.
• Encourage the team to recommend products, upsell where appropriate and make the most of every guest interaction.
• Work with the Bar Manager and Food & Beverage team on menus, promotions and ideas that can improve the guest experience and support sales.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure good communication and smooth service throughout the hotel.
• Help maintain a clean, safe and well-organised bar and ensure that hotel, health and safety and fire procedures are followed.
• Encourage the team to work responsibly and make sensible choices when it comes to reducing waste and protecting the environment.
• Maintain good relationships with colleagues and be ready to support other departments when needed.
• Take on other duties related to the role as required by the Bar Manager or Management.
