Data Engineer

Job Scope

The role will be ideal for someone who enjoys working across data engineering, reporting, analytics, and business systems, and who wants to contribute to improving how data is collected, structured, transformed, and used for decision-making across the organisation.

A description of your main scope of services, however not exhaustive, is detailed below:

1. Design, develop, and maintain reliable data pipelines from different business systems and data sources
Develop and maintain automated processes to collect, transform, and transfer data from various business systems and sources.

2. Support the development and maintenance of our data warehouse environment
Assist in maintaining and improving the data warehouse to ensure data is properly stored, organized, and readily available for reporting and analysis.

3. Work on data modelling, including structuring data for reporting and analytical purposes
Develop and maintain data models that structure business information in a clear and efficient manner for reporting and analytics.

4. Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards for management and operational teams
Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that provide accurate and relevant information to management and operational teams.

5. Translate business requirements into meaningful reports, dashboards, datasets, and data models
Understand business requirements and translate them into practical reporting, dashboard, dataset, and data modelling solutions.

6. Extract, transform, clean, and validate data from multiple sources
Extract and process data from different sources, ensuring it is properly cleaned, transformed, and validated before being used for reporting.

7. Improve data quality, consistency, and reliability across reporting environments
Identify and address data quality issues to ensure information used for reporting is accurate, consistent, and reliable.

8. Work with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and business KPIs
Liaise with stakeholders to understand their reporting needs, business processes, and key performance indicators.

9. Participate in the integration of ERP and other operational systems with reporting and data platforms
Support the integration of ERP and other operational systems with the organization’s reporting and data platforms.

10. Troubleshoot reporting, data refresh, transformation, and integration issues
Investigate and resolve issues affecting reports, dashboards, data refreshes, data transformations, and system integrations.

11. Document data flows, reporting logic, business rules, and technical processes
Maintain clear documentation of data sources, processes, reporting logic, business rules, and system integrations.

12. Contribute to improving the overall reporting and analytics architecture of the organization
Identify opportunities to improve the organization’s data, reporting, and analytics processes, systems, and overall efficiency.

13. Other Duties
Perform other related duties within the scope of internal control responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Experience with some of the following would be considered an advantage:

• Microsoft SQL Server / Azure SQL
• Power Query and DAX
• Data warehouse architecture
• Star schema / dimensional modelling
• APIs and system integrations
• ERP data environments, including Odoo or similar systems
• Microsoft Azure data technologies
• Data quality and data governance practices
• Automation of recurring reports and data processes
