Job Description
Our client is seeking to recruit a Senior Team Leader Finance who will report to the Chief Finance Officer. The Senior Team Leader - Finance is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial and statutory reporting. The role provides leadership across the accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, treasury, and cashiering functions while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations Management:
- Oversee/ supervise the overall functioning of the Accounting Department.
- Ensure all accounting transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
- Monitor financial controls and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Month-End and Year-End Closing:
- Lead and coordinate monthly financial closing activities.
- Review and analyze operating expenses and financial transactions.
- Ensure accurate posting of payroll-related transactions.
- Perform IFRS 16 accounting calculations and related adjustments.
- Review accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other month-end adjustments.
- Ensure timely completion of all closing schedules and reconciliations.
Balance Sheet and Fixed Assets Management:
- Maintain accurate and complete balance sheet schedules.
- Ensure proper allocation and classification of accounts.
- Manage and maintain the Fixed Assets Register.
- Monitor asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliations.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Analyze financial results and highlight key variances and trends.
- Support management with financial insights and recommendations for decision-making.
Tax Compliance:
- Prepare internal tax computations and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors, including PWC, for:
- Corporate Tax Returns
- Qualified Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (QDMTT) requirements
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax legislation and filing deadlines.
Audit and Statutory Compliance:
- Act as the primary liaison for external auditors.
- Coordinate audit requirements and ensure timely provision of supporting documentation.
- In charge of the preparation and review of annual financial statements.
- Participate in internal audit activities and ensure implementation of audit recommendations.
- Coordinate PACI audits relating to the Finance Department.
Corporate Governance and Legal Compliance:
- Follow up on legal and company secretarial matters, including board resolutions and related documentation.
- Review Corporate Governance disclosures and reports for inclusion in financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements and statutory obligations.
Budgeting and Financial Planning:
- Assist in the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets.
- Monitor budget performance and analyze variances.
- Support forecasting and financial planning exercises.
Team Leadership and Performance Management:
- Lead, coach, and develop finance team members.
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide regular feedback to collaborators.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Ensure adequate training and development of team members.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of experience in accounting and finance, with supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience in financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, and audit coordination.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial controls.
