Head Internal Controller

About the Role

Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort is looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Head Internal Controller to join our Finance team.

The Head Internal Controller will be responsible for strengthening the hotel's internal control environment through operational audits, risk reviews, compliance monitoring and investigations. The role will work closely with Finance, Operations and Management to identify control weaknesses, investigate irregularities and recommend practical corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct operational and financial control reviews across the hotel.
• Identify potential risks, control weaknesses, non-compliance and irregularities.
• Plan and conduct investigations into potential fraud or malpractice.
• Undertake full-scale investigations into concerns raised by employees, management, customers or other stakeholders.
• Review operational and financial information to identify patterns of non-compliance or unusual activity.
• Prepare detailed audit and investigation reports, including findings and recommendations.
• Review and follow up on audit action plans and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
• Conduct follow-up visits to verify compliance with agreed controls and procedures.
• Support the implementation of a strong internal control environment for new outlets and operations.
• Work closely with the Finance Department, Quality Management and operational teams to establish and maintain effective procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and minimise financial and operational risks.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records relating to audits and investigations.
• Support management with recommendations arising from audit and investigation findings.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, financial requirements, Health & Safety standards and sustainability practices.
• Carry out other audit, control and investigation assignments as required by Management.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate with:

• Minimum HSC or equivalent qualification.
• At least 3 years' experience in Accounting and/or Audit, including preferably 2 years within the hotel or tourism industry.
• ACCA Level 2 or equivalent professional qualification/progress will be an advantage.
• 2–4 years' relevant experience in Finance, Accounting or Audit, preferably within hospitality.
• Previous exposure to hotel operations will be highly valued.
• Strong analytical and investigative abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and sound professional judgement.
• Good knowledge of financial controls, audit procedures and risk management.
• Ability to identify issues, challenge non-compliance and recommend practical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial, operational and investigation matters.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with different departments.
