Job description
Department Learning & Development
Reporting to Digital Learning Manager
Location Ebene, Mauritius
Role overview
As a Digital Content Creator, you will join our Learning & Development team and learn how to turn business and learner needs into engaging, accessible and effective learning experiences for colleagues across OCS.
Working closely with your line manager and subject matter experts, you will support projects from initial brief through to design, development, testing, launch and evaluation. The work will be varied and may include eLearning, video, guides, presentations, forms, job aids and other performance-support resources. You will be encouraged to challenge whether training is the right solution and help select the most appropriate format for the audience and need.
This is a development role within a fast-paced organisation. You will receive support and increasing responsibility as your capability grows, while managing agreed priorities and contributing creative ideas to the wider Digital Learning team.
Key responsibilities
Understanding needs and designing solutions
Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to clarify the business need, target audience, required outcomes, scope, timescales and measures of success.
Gather and organise source content, ask constructive questions and identify gaps, risks or areas requiring approval.
Write clear learning objectives and recommend an appropriate learning or performance-support solution; recognise when eLearning is not the best response.
Create outlines, scripts, storyboards and prototypes for review before full development.
Apply learning-design principles to structure content in a clear, practical and engaging way.
Content creation and development
Design and develop eLearning and digital learning resources using tools such as Articulate 360, including Rise and Storyline.
Create and edit video-based content using tools such as Synthesia and other approved media tools.
Produce supporting resources such as guides, manuals, presentations, assessments, digital forms, job aids and manager toolkits.
Turn complex or technical information into concise, learner-friendly content, using plain language and appropriate visual design.
Use approved AI and emerging technologies responsibly to support research, ideation, drafting, prototyping and quality improvement, checking outputs for accuracy, bias and suitability.
Quality, accessibility and launch
Apply OCS brand, content and accessibility standards so learning is inclusive and usable for colleagues with different needs and levels of digital confidence.
Test content for accuracy, functionality, navigation, accessibility and learner experience; coordinate feedback and stakeholder sign-off.
Support publishing and configuration of content within the Learning Management System and other approved channels.
Maintain organised project files, source files and version-controlled content in line with data protection, information security and content-governance requirements.
Review and update existing content so that it remains accurate, relevant, compliant and effective.
Project working and continuous improvement
Plan and manage your assigned work, provide progress updates and raise risks or delays promptly.
Build positive working relationships with stakeholders, contributors and colleagues across OCS.
Gather learner and stakeholder feedback and use available data to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Contribute templates, standards and ideas that improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of digital learning production.
Keep up to date with developments in learning design, accessibility and learning technology, and share useful insights with the team.
General responsibilities
Follow OCS policies, including equality and diversity, information security, health and safety, data protection and responsible use of technology.
Support OCS sustainability commitments by considering resource-efficient and accessible digital approaches when designing learning.
Exercise reasonable care, skill and judgement and avoid conflicts between personal interests and those of OCS UK & Ireland.
Undertake other reasonable activities that support the purpose of the role and the apprentice's development.
About you
We are looking for someone who is curious, creative and motivated to build a career in digital learning. You may already have some experience in Learning & Development, training, communications, design or content creation, or you may demonstrate your potential through study, personal projects, voluntary work or a portfolio. You do not need experience of every tool listed below: training and support will be provided.
Essential criteria
A genuine interest in digital learning, content creation and how people learn at work.
Examples of written, visual, video, presentation or learning content you have created through work, study or personal projects.
Clear written communication, with the ability to organise information and write in plain language.
Creative thinking, curiosity and confidence contributing ideas and asking questions.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, accessibility and quality.
Confidence using digital technology, including Microsoft 365, and willingness to learn new tools quickly.
Good organisation and the ability to plan and manage several agreed tasks or projects at the same time.
Ability to work collaboratively, respond positively to feedback and take increasing ownership as skills develop.
Comfort working on-site at Ipswich HQ and adapting to changing business priorities.
Ability to meet the apprenticeship provider's eligibility and initial-assessment requirements.
Desirable criteria
Experience or knowledge of Learning & Development, workplace learning, HR, communications, design or another people-focused environment.
Experience using Articulate 360, Synthesia, Canva, video-editing, eLearning-authoring or other digital content tools.
Awareness of learning-design principles, accessibility, user experience or visual design.
Experience working with subject matter experts or responding to a creative brief.
Experience using a Learning Management System, Microsoft Forms or approved AI tools.
Your Development
You will develop knowledge and experience in:
learning-needs analysis, measurable objectives and solution design
learning theory, instructional design and learner journeys
eLearning, multimedia and digital content development
accessibility, user experience, branding and inclusive design
project planning, stakeholder engagement and content governance
testing, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement
learning technologies, professional standards and emerging practice
What success looks like
Learning content is accurate, accessible, engaging and clearly linked to an agreed learner or business need.
Projects are well organised, stakeholders are kept informed and feedback is acted on constructively.
You develop from supported delivery to increasing ownership of projects across the full content lifecycle.
You build a varied, high-quality portfolio and successfully progress through the apprenticeship.
You bring curiosity, creativity and practical ideas that improve learning for OCS colleagues.
