Job Description

Our client in the retail sector is seeking to recruit an Accounts Analyst.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of budget for entity and break-down by shop; ability to review critically performance of individual shops and highlight issues to management
  • Maintain accounting records to trial balance
Revenue:
  • Reconciling receipt and sales for 23 stores and recording in the general ledger.
Expenses:
  • Monitoring payroll expenses and associated social charges.
  • Recording fixed assets in general ledger and maintaining separate register for fixed assets on Excel. Ensuring that these records are reconciled at all times.
  • Recording invoices from local suppliers after checking to purchase order / ensuring service provided and completed. Checking proper classification for VAT purposes.
  • Recording and reconciling TDS monthly; preparation of monthly and annual return.
  • Recording invoices from foreign suppliers for purchases of goods for resale; checking 100 % consistency with detailed recording for stock costing purposes.
  • Ensuring that freight and associated services for imports are recorded accurately and taken fully for costing purposes.
  • Checking completeness and accuracy of VAT account prior to the preparation of the monthly VAT return.
  • Accounting for stock and reconciling with sub system.
  • Maintain accounting records to trial balance.
  • Preparation of budget including stock forecast; monitoring month by month P&L.
  • Control over recording of payroll and social charges.
  • Monitoring payroll expense month by month.
  • Recording invoices from foreign suppliers, checking completeness and accuracy of associated services. 
  • Profile:
  • Qualified by experience / studying / wishing to study for accounting qualification.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting packages desired.
  • Knowledge of accounting practice up to trial balance.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility to adapt to small company environment / ability to take over from colleagues’ responsibilities on demand and cover for absences.
  • Liaise efficiently with service providers and banks.
