Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Storekeeper

Job Summary

The Assistant Storekeeper supports the efficient operation of the hotel’s stores and inventory system by ensuring timely receipt, proper storage, and accurate distribution of goods. This role is essential in maintaining luxury service standards by ensuring all departments (kitchen, housekeeping, F&B, etc.) have the supplies they need without delay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving deliveries (food, beverages, linens, amenities, supplies) and verify quality and quantity
  • Ensure all goods meet hotel quality standards before storage
  • Store items properly following FIFO (First In, First Out) and hygiene standards
  • Maintain clean, organized, and temperature-controlled storage areas
  • Issue supplies to departments based on authorized requisitions
  • Record all stock movements accurately in inventory systems
  • Assist in daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damages, or expired items
  • Support cost control by minimizing waste and preventing losses
  • Coordinate with departments like kitchen, housekeeping, and purchasing
  • Follow strict hygiene, safety, and hotel policies at all times

Any Other / Cognate Duties

  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Storekeeper, Cost Controller, or Management
  • Assist in emergency stock handling or urgent departmental requests
  • Support stocktaking and audit processes beyond normal duties when required
  • Help with basic administrative tasks related to inventory and purchasing
  • Participate in training sessions and continuous improvement activities
  • Assist other departments when needed, in line with operational requirements
  • Ensure flexibility to adapt to changing hotel operations and guest demands

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (hospitality training is an advantage)
  • Basic knowledge of inventory or stock control procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-standard environment
  • Basic computer skills (inventory systems, MS Excel)
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Physically fit to handle lifting and moving stock

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience in a hotel, especially in luxury or 4–5 star properties
  • Familiarity with hotel inventory systems (e.g., Opera PMS, Material Control)
  • Understanding of HACCP and food safety standards
