Job Description

Operations & Maintenance Manager – UBP Crushing and Block-Making Operations

United Basalt Products Ltd is looking for a dynamic, results-driven Operations & Maintenance Manager to join our UBP Crushing and Block-Making Operations. Reporting to the Head of Operations – UBP Concassage, you'll drive operational excellence, maintenance performance, reliability, production efficiency and continuous improvement across multiple crushing sites.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations Management & Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate production, engineering and maintenance teams
  • Drive performance, resource utilisation and workforce productivity
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cost control
  • Ensure effective planning, stakeholder engagement and execution of operational strategies

2. Production Strategy & Operations

  • Develop and implement production strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Drive production planning, efficiency and plant performance
  • Monitor KPIs, analyse trends and identify improvement opportunities
  • Standardise operational practices across all crushing sites

3. Maintenance Strategy & Reliability

  • Develop maintenance strategies, SOPs and best practices
  • Drive preventive, predictive and shutdown maintenance programmes
  • Improve equipment reliability, availability and maintenance cost performance
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs, uptime, downtime and equipment performance

4. Projects, Optimisation & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead shutdowns, technical projects and major plant interventions
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Drive optimisation, productivity and cost-saving initiatives
  • Promote reliability, energy efficiency and operational excellence

5. Reporting, Safety & Compliance

  • Produce operational/maintenance reports, dashboards and KPI analyses
  • Provide technical recommendations and performance insights
  • Champion a strong safety culture and QHSE compliance
  • Support quality assurance, risk management and continuous improvement

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years in a similar management role
  • Experience in production operations, maintenance management and industrial plants
  • Exposure to mining, quarrying, crushing, manufacturing or heavy industry an advantage
  • Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven leadership, team development and stakeholder management abilities
  • Solid grasp of maintenance strategies, equipment reliability and continuous improvement methods
  • Proficient in MS Office and technical reporting
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, committed to operational excellence
