The Marketing Assistant will support the Marketing Executive and the wider Marketing & Communications function in the day-to-day coordination and delivery of marketing campaigns, content, events, communications, supplier activities and reporting.  The Marketing Assistant will help to ensure that approved marketing initiatives are executed accurately, on time, within agreed budgets and in line with company procedures and brand standards.

Main Duties:

Campaign coordination and execution:

  • Assist in coordinating approved corporate, product, retail and lead-generation campaigns across online and offline channels.
  • Maintain campaign calendars, task trackers, timelines, owners, dependencies and approval status; follow up proactively on outstanding actions.
  • Coordinate the preparation, production and distribution of approved marketing materials, ensuring that specifications, quantities, delivery locations and deadlines are correct.
  • Verify campaign information before release, including product names, dates, locations, contact details, calls to action and approved commercial information.
  • Compile campaign results and supporting documents for review, including performance data, expenditure, observations and recommended follow-up actions.

Content, social media and digital channels

  • Draft or adapt first versions of social media captions, email content, website copy, internal notices, presentations and other short-form marketing communications.
  • Schedule and publish approved content across the company's social media platforms and other digital channels, using the agreed content calendar.
  • Update approved website content and visuals, including product, campaign, store, service and contact information, and flag outdated information promptly.
  • Assist with content gathering, photography, video shoots and the preparation of simple visual assets using approved templates and tools.
  • Monitor comments, messages and basic audience activity when assigned, and route sales, service or reputational matters to the appropriate team without delay.

Events, activations and presentations

  • Support the planning and logistics of launches, exhibitions, workshops, campus activations, customer events, internal events and other approved marketing activities.
  • Coordinate venue requirements, invitations, guest lists, registration, branding, equipment, collateral, gifts, transport, suppliers and on-site setup as assigned.
  • Prepare or update event presentations, briefing notes, run sheets, checklists and supporting materials for internal and external use.
  • Provide on-site support, liaise with stakeholders and help ensure that the event runs according to the approved plan.
  • Record attendance, expenditure, feedback, outcomes and improvement actions in the post-event evaluation and file supporting evidence.

Brand, communications and asset management

  • Apply approved brand guidelines consistently across internal and external communications, marketing materials and presentations.
  • Proofread content for spelling, grammar, accuracy, tone, layout and brand consistency before it is submitted for approval or publication.
  • Organise and maintain the marketing asset library, including approved logos, photographs, videos, templates, artworks, presentations and final files.
  • Use clear file naming, version control and access permissions so that current approved materials can be retrieved easily.
  • Support internal communications and cross-functional initiatives in collaboration with Sales, HR, IT, Finance and other teams.

Market research, monitoring and reporting

  • Research industry developments, customer needs, competitor activity, channel trends and relevant marketing opportunities.
  • Gather and organise marketing data from approved sources, including social media, websites, campaigns, events and suppliers.
  • Update monthly activity reports and KPI trackers, comparing results with targets and documenting reasons for significant variances.
  • Highlight risks, delays, recurring issues and improvement opportunities to the reporting manager in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle customer, employee, supplier and campaign information according to company and data-protection requirements.

Supplier coordination and marketing administration

  • Request and follow up on quotations from approved suppliers and agencies; prepare clear comparisons for review where required.
  • Track approvals, purchase orders, delivery notes, invoices, payments and supporting documents in coordination with Procurement and Finance/Accounts.
  • Monitor stocks of marketing collateral, merchandise and event materials, and flag replenishment needs before shortages occur.
  • Provide administrative support to the marketing function, including meeting coordination, minutes, action lists, calendars and document filing.
  • Maintain complete records in the approved systems and comply with ISO 9001:2015 requirements, internal procedures and document-retention rules.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required:

  • Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • One to two years of relevant marketing, communications, events or administrative experience is preferred; strong internship or project experience may also be considered.
  • Good written and spoken English and French. Ability to communicate effectively in Mauritian Creole is an advantage.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools, social media scheduling platforms, website content management systems and basic analytics is an advantage.
  • Experience coordinating suppliers, managing deadlines and maintaining organised records is desirable.
