The trainee will receive practical training and support from experienced team members while assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of mall facilities and equipment.

 Job Description

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Team, the trainee will:

  • Assist in carrying out daily, weekly and monthly checklists as per recommendations, investigating related issues; conducting tests; resolving problems
  • Learn to monitor RTU meter, water meter, gas percentage and check for any anomalies
  • Support the maintenance team in identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assist in following up with contractors from start of job to completion and ensure service level agreements are being respected
  • Observe and learn how service level agreements and building standards are monitored.
  • Perform manual repairs, when necessary, under supervision.
  • Assist in the set-up of ventilation and other systems
  • Participate in general upkeep procedures and other related tasks as assigned
  • Help attend to complaints and ensures that follow up actions are taken to address same within the time stipulated
  • Assist the contractor with health and safety norms to ensure that all works are carried out in the safest manner
  • Assist with simple maintenance tasks such as replacing locks, repair broken pipes, fixing taps etc.).

Qualification, skills and experience:

  • National Certificate Level 3 / NTC 3 Electrical with or without NTC 3 Plumbing or currently pursuing a qualification in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Maintenance, Building Services, or a related field.
  • Be fluent in English and French
  • Computer Literate
  • Be organized, dynamic, self-motivated and good team player
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills

Roster system 

  1. Late Duty (Once per week maximum)

The employee needs to perform a late duty (starts work at 12h30 and finishes at 20h30), during weekdays (Monday to Thursday).

  1. Weekend Duty (Once per month maximum)

The employee needs to be on duty for any two shifts during the weekend he/she is on duty:

  • Friday late shift (14h00 to 22h00)
  • Saturday early shift (08h30 to 14h00)
  • Saturday late shift (14h00 to 22h00)
  • Sunday shift (08h30 to 15h00)

Internship period – 3 to 6 months
