Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

To oversee daily maintenance, minor repairs and safety compliance across mutiple sites and respond to urgent issues quickly, and ensure all stores remain safe, functional, and well-presented for customers and staff.

JOB DUTIES:

General Repair & Maintenance:

  • Plumbing: Unclog drains and toilets, fix leaky faucets, repair minor leaks under sinks in employee breakroom, toilets and backrooms.
  • Electrical: Replace faulty light bulbs and LED bulbs, reset tripped circuit breakers, inspect electrical cords for damage and change faulty power outlets or switches (low voltage)
  • Refrigeration Support: Verifiy display coolers, freezers and walk-in-chillers are within safe range; clean condenser coils, clear blocked drain lines, and monitor temperature logs before calling external contractors.
  • Store Fixtures: Assemble and repair gondola shelving, end-cap displays, wire racks, and other merchandise fixtures.
  • Carpentry & Building: Repair drywall holes, fix loose baseboards, adjust door hinges, replace broken handles or locks.
  • Painting: Patch and paint scuffed walls (especially in high-traffic areas), repaint faded markings, general upkeep of interior and exterior surfaces to maintain a clean store image.
  • HVAC Basics: Clean and replace air conditioning/furnace filters, clear debris from external condenser units and ensure proper airflow in all store areas.
  • Shopping Carts/Baskets: Regularly inspect and repair wobbly wheels, bent frames and damaged handles on shopping carts and hand baskets.
  • Staff Area Upkeep: Maintain locker rooms, breakroom kitchenettes, cabinets, utility closets to ensure a pleasant environment for employees.

Preventive Work:

  • Inspections: Conduct weekly walk-through inspections of all locations to identify visible issues such as wobbly fans, worn flooring, flickering lights, or any risks before they become emergencies.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure fire extinguishers, emergency exit lights are functional; document inspections and report hazards immediately.

Logistics & Contractor Coordination:

  • Equipment Moving: Assist shop managers with movement of shelving, office furniture, and large equipment as needed.
  • Contractor Liaison: Coordinate with external contractors (electricians, refrigeration techs, pest control, etc.) and supervise their work to guarantee quality work.
  • Collaborate with and assist the internal maintenance team on larger projects, complex repairs, or during periods of high workload.
  • Documenting: Log and track all maintenance requests from receipt to completion, ensuring timely follow-up and clear communication with store managers.
  • Inventory Management: Track and re-order maintenance supplies (bulbs, filters, cleaning chemicals/equipments etc.) to avoid shortages without overstocking.

Emergency & On-call Duties:

Emergency Response: Be available for urgent issues (burst pipes, power outages, security door failures) to minimize risks and business interruption    

QUALIFICATIONS & PROFILE:

  • Minimum SC
  • NC3 or NC4 in any field related to maintenance will be an advantage
  • 2-3 years of experience in general maintenance, handymanwork or facilities management.
  • Practical knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and painting.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks.
  • Pleasant, well-mannered, and positive attitude personality
  • Able to work both as part of a team and individually.
  • Valid Driving License and own means of vehicle is MANDATORY.

JOB DETAILS:

  • Working hours: Standard daytime hours from Monday to Saturday with flexibility required for occasional evening or weekend emergency calls.
