Accountant

Job Profile

The accountant will report to the Senior accountant and will be responsible for supporting the Finance Department in the day-to-day accounting operations of Beau Plan Retail Park Ltd and Beau Plan Office Park Ltd. The role ensures the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, preparation of management information, statutory compliance, and maintenance of accounting records while strengthening internal controls through appropriate segregation of duties. The accountant will take ownership of operational accounting activities and provide support to the Senior accountant in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit, compliance and financial analysis.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Manage the debtors’ ledger and ensure accurate customer accounts.

·        Process customer receipts, TDS transactions and debtor reconciliations.

·        Prepare debtor ageing reports and monitor outstanding receivables.

·        Generate and distribute invoices, including ad hoc and utility billings.

·        Process credit notes, invoice reversals and fiscalised invoices.

·        Respond to tenant billing queries and support debt recovery activities.

·        Perform turnover rental assessments.

·        Monitor the adequacy of bad debt provisions.

·        Review supplier invoices and maintain supplier master records.

·        Verify supplier banking details and expenditure requests (OPEX/CAPEX).

·        Ensure supplier records are accurate and compliant with company procedures

·        Prepare monthly journals, reconciliations and accounting schedules.

·        Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and calculate depreciation.

·        Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and quarterly reporting packs.

·        Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all supporting schedules.

·        Prepare reporting packs and intercompany reconciliations.

·        Issue intercompany confirmations and resolve reconciliation differences.

·        Support the preparation of the annual budget, revised estimates, forecasts and five-year financial forecast.

·        Respond to auditor queries and assist in resolving audit findings.

·        Support the preparation of financial statements,

·        Prepare or assist with VAT, TDS, and other statutory returns.

·        Respond to Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) queries.

·        Assist with finance-related projects and other duties assigned by Management.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

·        Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or equivalent.

·        ACCA Level II or partly qualified ACCA would be an advantage.

·        Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting environment.

·        Experience in Audit, property management, retail or commercial real estate would be an advantage.

·        Experience using ERP/accounting systems.

·        Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

·        Good interpersonal and communication skills.

·        Customer-oriented approach when dealing with tenants and suppliers.

·        Ability to work collaboratively within a small finance tea

·        Timely month-end close.

·        Accuracy of financial records and reconciliations.
