Job Description
The Senior Business Analyst is the link between our General Insurance business and the teams that deliver change to it. The role exists to make sure that what the business needs is captured accurately, documented precisely, and reflected faithfully in what is ultimately built.
The first assignment is our core insurance platform transformation, where the role owns the requirements review and sign-off cycle between the business and our implementation partner. Beyond that program, the role continues as a permanent capability within the Transformation Management Office, supporting change initiatives across General Insurance.
Main Responsibilities● Elicit, analyse and document business requirements across underwriting, claims, finance, reinsurance, operations and distribution.
● Review and challenge supplier-produced business requirement documentation, wireframes and to-be process designs; raise structured written commentary and track each item through to closure.
● Verify that requirements agreed in discussion are correctly and completely reflected in the documentation submitted for sign-off.
● Document as-is and to-be business processes, and maintain requirements traceability from business need through design, build and test.
● Plan and moderate requirement and design workshops with business subject matter experts and delivery partners, keeping sessions to agenda, scope and time.
● Capture decisions, assumptions, open questions and actions, and circulate outcomes promptly for confirmation.
● Consolidate feedback from multiple business units and operating countries into a single agreed MUA position.
● Flag where a requirement agreed for one entity conflicts with the practice, product wording or regulatory position of another.
● Own the review and sign-off cycle end to end: route documentation to the correct business owners, follow up on responses, and maintain a live sign-off status by section, product line and country.
● Escalate unresolved design questions to the appropriate governance forum with a clear statement of the options and the decision required.
● Identify items that constitute a change in scope and route them through the established change control process.
● Contribute to project reporting and provide cover for the Senior Project Manager on delivery matters during periods of absence.
● Translate agreed requirements into test scenarios and support user acceptance testing, including planning, execution support and defect triage.
● Support user readiness through input to training material, process documentation and post-implementation issue resolution.
● Act as senior business analyst across General Insurance change initiatives — new product launches, distribution and digital channels, regulatory and tariff changes, country roll-outs, and integration with partners and intermediaries.
● Manage the change request and enhancement backlog for core business systems, working with IT to assess impact and agree priority.
● Maintain the documented rationale for how MUA’s systems are configured, so that the reasoning behind past decisions remains available to the business.
Job Requirements
● Degree in business, insurance, information technology or a related discipline.
● Minimum five years’ experience in general (non-life) insurance, in business analysis, underwriting, claims or operations.
● Sound working knowledge of the general insurance policy lifecycle end to end — new business, endorsement, renewal, cancellation and claims — together with the finance and reinsurance touchpoints.
● Familiarity across multiple product lines, such as motor, household, fire, marine, engineering, personal accident and travel, liability and bonds.
● Experience contributing to a system implementation or a significant business change initiative.
● Demonstrated ability to read functional documentation critically
● Excellent written and spoken English.
