Job Description

 The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash-flow management, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and sound financial control. The position provides management with accurate and timely financial information to support business planning and decision-making.  

1. Financial Management

  • Manage the day-to-day financial and accounting activities of the company.
  • Monitor the company’s financial position, cash flow, income, and expenditure.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
  • Provide management with financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Monitor costs and identify opportunities for improved financial efficiency.

2. Accounting & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate recording and classification of all financial transactions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Review profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash-flow statements, and other management reports.
  • Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
  • Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.

3. Cash Flow & Banking

  • Monitor daily cash flow and ensure sufficient funds are available for operational requirements.
  • Manage banking transactions and relationships with financial institutions.
  • Prepare cash-flow forecasts.
  • Monitor customer receipts and supplier payments.
  • Ensure payments are properly authorised and processed on time.

4. Accounts Receivable & Payable

  • Supervise customer invoicing and collection activities.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Review supplier invoices and payment schedules.
  • Ensure proper controls over purchases and supplier payments.

5. Financial Controls

  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal financial controls.
  • Review and authorise financial transactions in accordance with company procedures.
  • Identify financial risks and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Monitor expenses and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
  • Prevent and investigate financial discrepancies where necessary.

6. Tax & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory financial and tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax legislation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional advisors.
  • Maintain proper documentation for tax and statutory purposes.

7. Payroll

  • Oversee the preparation and processing of monthly payroll.
  • Ensure payroll information is accurate and properly authorised.
  • Coordinate with HR regarding salaries, deductions, leave, new employees, and employee departures.
  • Ensure statutory payroll-related payments and returns are completed on time.

8. Audit

  • Coordinate internal and external audit requirements.
  • Prepare schedules, supporting documents, and financial information required by auditors.
  • Follow up on audit findings and implement agreed corrective actions.

9. Management Support

  • Provide management with financial information and advice for business decisions.
  • Analyse project profitability, operating costs, and financial performance.
  • Assist management with business planning and investment decisions.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities affecting the company.

10. Team Management

  • Supervise and manage the finance and accounting team.
  • Allocate responsibilities and monitor performance.
  • Provide training and guidance to finance staff.
  • Ensure that finance procedures and deadlines are consistently followed.
