Job Description

JOB SCOPE:

The Facilities & Equipment Technician is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the Company's showrooms, warehouses, offices, and other facilities to ensure they remain safe, functional, and well-presented. The role supports the upkeep of building infrastructure, equipment, furniture, and fixtures while coordinating with external contractors for specialized maintenance works.

A description of your main scope of services, however not exhaustive, is detailed below:

1. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Carry out routine inspections and maintenance of all Company showrooms, warehouses, offices, and other facilities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to reduce equipment breakdowns and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and resolve issues within agreed timelines.

 

2. Building & Facility Repairs

  • Perform minor repairs to building infrastructure, including:
    • Electrical fittings and lighting
    • Plumbing systems
    • Air conditioning units (basic maintenance)
    • Doors, locks, windows, shelving, display units, and furniture fixtures
    • Signage and general building fittings
  • Identify maintenance issues requiring specialist intervention and report them to the Asset & Maintenance Supervisor.

 

3. Contractor Coordination

  • Assist in coordinating external contractors for major maintenance and repair works.
  • Ensure contractors have access to work sites and that assigned work is completed satisfactorily.
  • Report any quality or safety concerns to the supervisor.

 

4. Work Order Management

  • Receive, update, and close maintenance requests in the Company's work order system or maintenance log.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance activities and outstanding issues.
  • Escalate unresolved or recurring problems promptly.

 

5. Site Inspections

  • Conduct routine inspections across all showroom and warehouse locations to identify maintenance requirements.
  • Recommend preventive actions to maintain the appearance and functionality of Company facilities.
  • Report any health and safety hazards immediately.

 

6. Health & Safety

  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with Company safety procedures.
  • Use tools and equipment safely and maintain them in good working condition.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

 

7. General Responsibilities

  • Support showroom setup, renovations, relocations, and equipment installations when required.
  • Assist with emergency maintenance outside normal working hours when necessary.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by Management within the scope of the role.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • National Certificate from MITD or equivalent qualification in Electrical Installation, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • Additional certifications in electrical work, air conditioning, plumbing, or building maintenance will be an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, general technical services, or a similar role.
  • Previous experience within the retail, warehouse, commercial property, hospitality, or manufacturing sectors will be an advantage.
  • Experience carrying out electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general building repairs is preferred.

  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and follow technical manuals and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer literacy for updating maintenance records.
