Job Description

 Quantity Surveyor

Location: Mauritius
Employment Type: Full-time | On-site
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing quantity surveying activities from measurement and tender preparation through to quotations, cost follow-up and claims administration.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Quantity Surveyor with strong technical, analytical and commercial skills who is looking to take on a hands-on role within a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate quantity measurements and take-offs based on drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Assist with tendering processes, including the preparation, analysis and submission of tender documents.
  • Prepare and review quotations and ensure that pricing is accurate and commercially viable.
  • Follow up on quotations, tenders and commercial submissions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor project costs and assist with cost control and budget tracking.
  • Review project documentation, measurements and variations to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare, assess and follow up on claims related to completed or ongoing works.
  • Assist with the preparation of supporting documentation for payment applications and valuations.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, consultants and other relevant parties on commercial and contractual matters.
  • Maintain accurate records of measurements, quotations, tenders, variations, claims and other project-related documentation.
  • Identify potential cost implications and provide appropriate commercial input to support project decisions.
  • Ensure all quantity surveying activities are carried out accurately and within the required deadlines.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or a similar role.
  • Strong experience in measurements, BOQs, tendering, quotations and claims.
  • Good understanding of construction processes, project costing and commercial practices.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with project teams.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in English and French.
  • A valid driving licence and access to a private vehicle.
